Counter tag: occasional invaders

Insect control

Ants, boxelder beetles, centipedes, earwigs, fleas, Asian beetles, roaches and spiders: the family pest shop on Richfield Road treats the occasional invaders that find their way into Flint and Genesee County buildings.

Chapter 01

The occasional invaders, named at the counter

Boxelder beetles, ants, centipedes, earwigs, fleas, Asian beetles, roaches and spiders are what this shop calls occasional invaders. They are not one problem with one cure. Each comes in through a different gap, turns up in a different season and needs a different product, so a technician looks at what you actually found before anyone picks a treatment. Call 810-736-9513 and describe it.

The photo on this page is a customer's sidewalk in Genesee County, covered in small dark beetles beside a brick wall and a downspout. If you are not sure what is crawling around your house, walk into the counter at 4294 Richfield Road and ask which product fits, or have the office send someone out.

Carpenter ants and powderpost beetles, from real calls

A reviewer named wmjhoss had carpenter ants coming from a rotting tree stump outside. He spotted the truck outside and asked the technician to take a look, then explained what he was already doing about it. His review says: "Instead of trying to sell me on service he said what I was doing seemed to be working and to just keep that up instead." Sometimes the right answer is to do nothing new.

Cheryl B had a different problem inside the wood. Her review reads: "The bugs were leaving piles of sawdust & C shaped larvae, they were identified as Powderpost Beetles." Melvin and Preston came out to exterminate them, and she called both guys "highly professional, helpful, very easy to deal with & friendly." Sawdust piles and curved larvae in your wood are worth a call to 810-736-9513.

Chapter 03

What no outdoor program can prevent

Fleas, roaches, bed bugs and pantry pests cannot be prevented, and the shop says why on its preventative program page: they are "carried by people, pets, products and furniture." An outdoor program keeps ants, earwigs, box elders, Asian beetles and spiders from settling in. It cannot stop a flea riding in on the dog or a roach arriving in a box from the store.

So the advice is plain. If you find any of those four, call right away at 810-736-9513 and the office will set up a visit. The outdoor invaders are a different story, since they are covered by the April to October preventative program, and inside treatments are provided if necessary at no additional cost.
